Hymn for the Feast of Revelation (Transfiguration), composed by the Priest Pera of Dargene

Mount Tabor says: "All the mountains and even the hills cannot compare to me;
Height and depth and everything within them are envious of my beauty.
O Gilboa, your cliffs indeed and your slopes are defiled with blood:
Because King Saul and his son Jonathan were slain upon you.

Behold you, Horeb, a calf was made upon you and the people worship:
A molten bull, a deaf idol whose voice is not heard.
O Ziph, sing out! For by John your cliffs are blessed:
For he is the groomsman of the Bridegroom, and the voice that preaches before the eyes of all peoples.

Hermon, give praise! Just as David murmured/sang from of old:
And the two of us will rejoice and exult together before the Son of Man.
O Mountains of Ophir, with the gold you possess, why are you proud?
A single ray of my sparks they cannot endure!

Sinai of smoke, and the Mount of the House of the Lord, and the Holy of Holies:
I am the one whose fortresses cannot be conquered by any man.
Upon the top of my walls two heroes stand in awe:
Moses the Great with Elijah, renowned men.

Let praise thunder from the mouth of all, fulfilling the symbols:
With John, James, and Simon, initiated into the mysteries.
Thanksgiving to Your name, and also exaltation from all mouths:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for ever and ever."
