Syriac Text

  1. After the word ܚܵܘ̈ܒܲܝܢ (our debts), the Chaldean and Syro-Malabar versions add the phrase ܘܲܚܛܵܗܲܝ̈ܢ (and our sins) as found in Luke 11:3. The Assyrian Church uses the version shown, as found in Mathew 6:9-13

Fr. Emmanuel Thelly recites Awun d'washmayya
Fr. Emmanuel Thelly CMI • 2013
This recording from the Aramaic Project features Fr. Thelly reciting the Lord's prayer. It's interesting to note how ܬܲܥܠܲܢ is pronounced as "thae-lan" rather than the usual "tha-alan" in the malabar accent - Fr. Thelly adds the short e vowel to the ܥ. This variation can also be seen in the Onitha d'qdam of Monday Ramsha (Qadmaye), as well as in Luke 11:4 in the Mosul Peshitta. where the word ܬܲܥܠܲܢ is rendered as ܬܲܥܸܠܲܢ.
