This Supplication Hymn ("Takshefto") is chanted during the prayer service of "Wa'do da-Lmino" (the Entrance in the Haven) also called "Nahire" or the Parable of the Ten Virgins. The prayer is held at the close of the second service of the eve of Monday (evening of Palm Sunday). At the end of the prayer the clergy and deacons all stand before the sanctuary. The curtain is kept closed. Most of the lights in the Church are put out and the faithful hold candles. The darkness signifies the dark night on which the ten virgins were expecting the arrival of the Bridegroom. The lit candles in the hands of the faithful are a hope that the Lord will count us among the wise virgins.
